Your Data, Our Responsibility

Plain English version of what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. No legal cosplay, no fine print tricks.

Last updated: April 20, 2026 · Effective date: April 20, 2026

TL;DR 🧠

  • We collect your email when you sign up (newsletter, account, or review form) so we can send you updates, alerts, and promotional stuff about prop firms.
  • We use cookies + analytics (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity) to understand how people use the site. Standard stuff.
  • We don't sell your data. Ever. That's a promise.
  • You can unsubscribe, delete your account, or request your data at any time.

1. Who We Are

PropFirmGeeks ("we," "us," "our") operates the website propfirmgeeks.com — an independent prop trading firm review platform. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have.

Questions? Email us at [email protected].

2. What We Collect

Here's everything we might collect from you:

📧 Email Address

When you sign up for our newsletter, create an account, submit a review, or enter a giveaway/promo, we store your email. We use it for account login, transactional emails, and promotional updates (new firm reviews, flag changes, special deals).

👤 Account Info

If you create an account: username/display name and any profile info you choose to provide. Password is hashed — we can't read it.

✍️ User-Generated Content

Reviews, ratings, comments, and votes you submit. This content is public and tied to your account.

🌐 Technical Data

IP address, browser type, device info, pages visited, referring URL, timestamps — collected automatically via server logs and analytics.

🔗 Affiliate Click Data

When you click an affiliate link to a prop firm, we and/or the firm may record the click via cookies or tracking parameters. This is how we earn commission if you sign up.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • Run the site: account login, review submissions, voting, saving your preferences.
  • Send emails: newsletter updates, new firm reviews, flag changes, promotional events, affiliate deals, and transactional stuff (password reset, account confirmation). You can unsubscribe from promo emails any time via the link in every email.
  • Improve the product:analytics tell us which pages are popular, where people drop off, what firms people compare. Helps us make the site better.
  • Earn commission: affiliate tracking when you click through and sign up with a firm.
  • Keep things safe: detecting spam, fraud, fake reviews, and general weirdness.
  • Legal compliance: if we have to respond to a valid legal request (subpoena, court order, etc.).

4. Legal Basis (GDPR Peeps)

If you're in the EU/UK, we process your data under these legal bases:

  • Consent: for marketing emails, non-essential cookies, promo communications.
  • Contract: for account services (login, review submissions, etc.).
  • Legitimate interest: for fraud prevention, site security, and analytics.
  • Legal obligation: for compliance with laws we have to follow.

5. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar tech for:

  • Essential cookies:login, session management, security. Can't turn these off — the site breaks without them.
  • Analytics cookies: Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. They help us see how people use the site. IPs are anonymized where possible.
  • Affiliate cookies: when you click an affiliate link, the destination firm drops a cookie to track if you sign up.

You can block cookies in your browser settings. Some features may break if you do.

6. Who We Share Data With

We do NOT sell your personal data. We share it only with:

  • Service providers: hosting (our CMS/database host), email delivery (newsletter platform), analytics (Google, Microsoft Clarity). They can only use the data to provide services to us.
  • Affiliate networks: when you click an affiliate link, the receiving firm/network gets tracking info as part of normal affiliate referral.
  • Legal / safety:if we're legally required or need to protect rights and safety.
  • Business transfers:if PropFirmGeeks is ever acquired or merged, your data moves to the new owners (you'd be notified).

7. How Long We Keep It

We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Email list subscribers are kept until you unsubscribe. Reviews and public contributions stay published unless you delete your account (even then, some reviews may be anonymized rather than removed). Backups and logs may retain data for up to 90 days after deletion.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), you may have the right to:

  • ✦ Access the data we have about you
  • ✦ Correct inaccurate data
  • ✦ Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • ✦ Export your data in a portable format
  • ✦ Object to processing or withdraw consent
  • ✦ Opt out of sale of personal info (we don't sell, but consider this a permanent opt-out)
  • ✦ Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We'll respond within 30 days.

9. Security

We use standard industry security practices — HTTPS everywhere, hashed passwords, access-controlled databases. That said, no system is 100% bulletproof. If there's ever a breach that affects you, we'll notify you in line with applicable laws.

10. Minors

PropFirmGeeks is not intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from minors. If you think a minor signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.

11. International Users

The site is hosted and operated from various regions. If you access PropFirmGeeks from outside the country where our servers are located, your data may be transferred across borders. By using the site, you consent to this.

12. Updates to This Policy

We might update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes get announced via banner or email. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the latest version. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the new policy.
